Thomas Hampson is a renowned American baritone, a profound interpreter, and a cultural leader. He has been nominated for and received numerous prestigious awards and honors. For instance, the Metropolitan Opera Guild named him a 'Metropolitan Opera Meistersinger', and both the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and Gramophone magazine have inducted him into their Halls of Fame.

Hampson is one of the most respected and forward-thinking musicians of our time. His operatic repertoire includes over 80 roles, performed at leading opera houses around the world, and his discography includes more than 170 albums, including Grammy Award winners, the Edison Music Award, and the Grand Prix du Disque. In 2009, he received the Atlantic Council Award (Washington, D.C., USA) for artistic leadership and became the first ever singer-in-residence with the New York Philharmonic. In 2010, the Library of Congress, where he served as Special Advisor for the Study and Performance of Music in America, named him a 'Living Legend'. Hampson has also been awarded the prestigious Concertgebouw Prize and received the ECHO Klassik Award as Best Singer of the Year in 2011 — for the fourth time in 20 years.

Hampson is an honorary professor in the Faculty of Philosophy at Heidelberg University and holds honorary doctorates from the Manhattan School of Music, the New England Conservatory, Whitworth College, and the San Francisco Conservatory, as well as an honorary membership in the Royal Academy of Music in London. The singer has also received the Austrian Medal of Honor for Services to the Arts and Sciences. In 2017, together with his long-time musical partner Wolfram Rieger, he was awarded the Hugo Wolf Medal by the International Hugo Wolf Academy for outstanding contributions to the interpretation of song repertoire.

Thomas Hampson enjoys enormous success on world stages as an opera singer, recording artist, and 'ambassador of singing', taking an active interest in research, education, the dissemination of music, and the development of music technology. The Hampsong Foundation, which he established in 2003, uses vocal performance as a means to promote dialogue and understanding between cultures.
